Our top 5 bar recommendations when visiting Melbourne

A girl’s weekend in Melbourne is always a good idea, whether it’s for a birthday, a hen’s celebration or just to spend some quality time with your gal pals!

If you love the hustle and bustle of a big city, look no further than our Melbourne packages here. Filled with pampering, brunch and bubbles, these packages range from one to two-night stays and are organised by the Girls Getaways team, meaning all you must do, is enjoy yourself!

If you find yourself with a spare afternoon on your hands and want to enjoy a drink but don’t know where to go, then this blog is for you!

1. ROMEO LANE

This bar will provide you with the perfect balance of class and comfort. An old-fashioned bar, only a stone’s throw from Chinatown, Romeo Lane is in a fabulous location, boasting a large fireplace and cocktails presented in beautifully cut glassware. With an impeccable drinks list, Romeo Lane has a catalogue of recipes up their sleeve, so all you need do is list your favourite ingredients and they will create something delicious just for you.

2. ARBORY AFLOAT

This seasonal floating bar on the gorgeous Yarra River is perfect for an afternoon on the water, with the sun shining and a refreshing cocktail in your hand. Founded by Turkish siblings Nada Thomas and Salim Gafayri, this bar offers a delicious menu of classic and contemporary Turkish dishes, complimented by a sublime list of wines and cocktails. The laidback chic vibe will transport you to the exotic Turquoise Coast in Turkey, offering a vibrant inner-city oasis.

3. BAR LIBERTY

Tucked away in Fitzroy, this wine bar offers a carefully curated menu filled with wine, cider, cocktails, and whisky, with the variety and quality hard to beat! The venue is stripped back and quietly chic, paired with a sophisticated food menu that should not be overlooked. The best way to get a taste for it all? The $70pp set menu.

4. BAR MARGAUX

You will find Bar Margaux right in Melbourne’s CBD. A take on a New York version of a Parisian bistro, which ticks all the right design tropes; a chequerboard floor, shiny white subway tiles, booths, wired glass dividers and golden back bar lighting. Offering food and drinks, Bar Margaux is known for their ‘Golden Hour’ specials, (between 4 and 6pm, and then again between midnight and close), and the continuous flow of traffic, keeping the energy high.

5. BAD FRANKIE

The last of our recommendations, Bad Frankie. A fabulous cocktail bar in Fitzroy stocking only Australian spirits and has been on the native train for years! Bad Frankie is a true-blue Aussie bar that puts jaffles, community sporting trophies and smart spirits utilising native ingredients next to each other.
