Introducing our newest team members: Lauren & Alice!

The Girls Getaways team has two brand new members! We’re so excited to welcome Lauren, our Getaway Guru, and Alice, our Travel Trendsetter, to the team. We sat down with these two ladies to get to know them a little better & let you know what they will be working on here at GG.

FIRSTLY, LET’S GET TO KNOW LAUREN…

What’s your educational background?

After high school, and my travel gap year (of course), I completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours at UNSW Art & Design. At my previous job at 7th Day Brewery in Sydney, I prompted myself on a self-taught and TAFE pushed journey through digital marketing and all that comes with it.

What motivates and inspires you?

Two things, adventures and photography. Not only do I try to do these two things every spare chance I get, these two things also go hand in hand and are even more inspirational when done together. I love to travel, and travel has always been a big inspiration for my work & self-growth. Being somewhere else in the world and being able to share with people a depiction of the world through my eyes has always been a fulfilling feeling. Whilst I do love road trips and getaways with friends, I get most of my enjoyment from travelling solo. It's with the personal space to rejuvenate, re-energise and re-collect, that I’m more inspired and able to see the beauty in the smallest of details of every landscape and every fleeting moment. See some of my image portfolio here.

What’s your favourite way to relax and indulge in self-care?

I’m a sucker for frequent self-care and I truly believe that looking after yourself both mentally and physically is the secret to happiness in life. If I’m not working or socialising you’ll find me relaxing in the bath, healing in an infrared sauna session, indulging in a remedial massage, going for a swim in the ocean, going for a huge walk or treating myself to retail therapy!

How would your friends and family describe you?

My friends and family would describe me as extremely organised, neat and tidy, obsessive-compulsive (about perfectionism) yet, easy-going, goal-driven, social but also a bit of an introvert who loves her alone time.

Travel. Where have you been and where is your favourite?

I must say, I am very lucky to have been able to travel to a fair few places around the world. My first solo trip to Europe was when I was 17, since then i’ve been back to Europe twice. My favourite euro cities would have to hands down be, Paris (for the cultural romanticism), Tuscany for the endless rolling hills (and it’s where I learnt to truly love red wine) and the Greek isle of Santorini. I’ve also travelled to the Philippines and lived 3 months abroad in Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Indonesia while completing my honours year at UNSW.

If you were planning your own girls’ weekend, where would you go and what would it involve?

I’ve got two types of trips that cross my mind when I’m thinking about the next getaway with the girls! And they are:

  1. An ocean side beach house on the mid-north coast or Bryon Bay area, soaking up the sun, making G&T’s, reading a good book on the sand, ocean swims and sunset dinner parties on the balcony.

  2. An inland country or inner coast escape to Berry or somewhere in the Southern Hinterland, enjoying all things wineries, fires, outback and vast views, small town antique shops and hot cooked dinners at a nice pub or restaurant.

What is your role at Girls Getaways?

I’m excited to be the newest member of the GG team, taking on the roles of designing and booking your getaway trips, assisting with all things marketing and social media, and being the eye behind the lens when it comes to in-house photography, image editing and GG event images!

NOW, LET US INTRODUCE ALICE…

What is your dream girls getaway?

My ideal girl’s getaway would be a Summer weekend away in Noosa, swimming in the ocean, sipping on cocktails and lots of shopping. A beach getaway is a perfect way to catch up with friends and overindulge!

If you had to pick one cocktail to drink for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is a tricky question as I love cocktails, especially on a Friday afternoon (it’s 5 pm somewhere right!!), but if I had to pick just one, probably a Lychee martini.

Where is your favourite place you have travelled to?

I have been lucky enough to travel to quite a few places, however, if I had to choose my favourite it would be South Africa. In 2018 I spent 3 months travelling from city to city and it was an incredible experience. I visited Nelson Mandela’s house, bungee jumped in Soweto and walked to the top of Table Mountain! It’s a beautiful country, and I can’t wait to go back.

If you’re going on a picnic, what are your top must-have snacks?

Definitely a bottle of bubbles accompanied with creamy brie, crackers and prosciutto. They are the staples of any cheese board!

What are your top 3 TV shows?

My number 1 show is hands down Gossip Girl, with Grey’s Anatomy a close second and Normal People coming in at third place.

What is your role at Girls Getaways?

I am so excited to be joining the GG team and can’t wait to help with marketing and sales. I will work alongside Mel, Eliza and Lauren to create fabulous new packages; ensure our social media is looking great; assist with events and most importantly, to make sure all the girls enjoy their getaways!

Welcome to the team ladies! xx
