DAY ONE: WEDNESDAY 23 OCT 2019
Arrive in Delhi!
You will be met by your tour guide at the airport and will then be transported to your accommodation.
Spend the rest of the day together shopping and experiencing one of the bustling bazaars of Delhi.
Tonight, you will meet all of the women and your new travel friends at our first Welcome Dinner.
DAY TWO: THURSDAY 24 OCT 2019
We start our Delhi experience with The Sultanate Delhi Tour – an introduction to the city, Quatab Minar and surrounds. Here we unearth layers of history and see and learn about architectural features of different time periods all in one place. Visit a country home of a British Viceroy and Mughal emperor and a Sufi Shrine in Mehrauli Village. You will also see birds and butterflies in the Archeological Park that we take a stroll through.
Spend the afternoon at another one of Delhi’s colourful bazaars followed by dinner.
DAY THREE: FRIDAY 25 OCT 2019
Morning drive to Agra, arriving in time to explore your surrounds including the Agra Fort.
Agra is home to the The Taj Mahal - the world’s most grand monument to love, built by Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz.
DAY FOUR: SATURDAY 26 OCT 2019
Today’s early morning start will be worth it with a visit to The Taj Mahal during sunrise. Explore India’s most photographed monument with a local guide to give you insider knowledge into its history.
After breakfast, we travel to the capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur - also known as The Pink City.
Spend the afternoon exploring Jaipur with a visit to the Hawa Mahal (red and pink sandstone make up this unique looking palace), City Palace, do some more shopping in one of the many bazaars, or check out a Bollywood film at the famous Raj Mandir cinema. Overnight Jaipur.
DAY FIVE: SUNDAY 27 OCT 2019
On your second day in Jaipur, you’ll visit the magnificent Amber Fort as a group. Amber fort was built in 1592; and it has seen renovations and improvements for over two centuries! Its name is said to derive from the many jewels that are used for decoration inside…see for yourself!
This evening we celebrate Diwali at the Birla Temple located at the foot of MotiDoongri fortress. During Diwali the gardens surrounding the temple are lit up and decorated in garlands and flowers, and locals flock to give their offerings to the deities. Later we make our way to the city for a special Diwali dinner. Overnight: Jaipur.
DAY SIX: MONDAY 28 OCT 2019
After an early breakfast leave for Udaipur by AC train. Enjoy the train journey passing through the Thar Desert, witness desert life of villagers dressed in colourful clothes herding animals.
Arrive mid afternoon and check into your hotel by beautiful Lake Pichola. Situated on the serene lake, you’ll understand why Udaipur is named the ‘Venice of the East’.
Udaipur, also known as the City of Lakes, is one of India’s most picturesque cities. Palaces surround the city, the most famous being The Lake Palace, which covers an entire island and was featured in the James Bond film Octopussy. The city was founded in 1559 and was the capital of the Mewar kingdom. There’s no doubt you’ll enjoy this relaxing, seductive city.
Unwind in the evening by enjoying traditional Rajasthani cuisine at a rooftop location. The view from above is spectacular.
DAY SEVEN: TUESDAY 29 OCT 2019
After a late breakfast visit the massive City Palace and take a boat ride on Lake Pichola.
Afternoon visit to Bagore-ki-Haveli, a beautiful Haveli (a traditional Indian mansion), housing an interesting contemporary art gallery and watch a local dance performance.
Dinner tonight is at another roof top restaurant which overlooks the stunning Lake Pichola and enjoy the sweeping views and many treasures housed inside. Overnight Udaipur.
DAY EIGHT: WEDNESDAY 30 OCT 2019
Your next destination is the – The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel – famous for where the movie of the same name was shot on location in a small town called Khempur. Check in and spend the late afternoon strolling through this small village and sampling local life including a visit to the village school.
DAY NINE: THURSDAY 31 OCT 2019
Spend the day as you please- perhaps you might wish to watch The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and hear from the owner’s about their involvement with the film or take the time to get lost in a good book with a warm cup of chai in the courtyard where Judi Dench or Maggie Smith often enjoyed their chai.
If you feel like indulging, relax and unwind with a massage.
Your afternoon will be spent enjoying the company of your new life friends as you get ready for your Saree party night ahead. Prepare with an afternoon henna session ( with a glass of wine or gin and tonic of course).
Tonight dress up in your saree or kameez that you've purchased a long the way and enjoy a traditional Rajasthani dinner with entertainment by the pool at The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
DAY TEN: FRIDAY 1 NOV 2019
After breakfast leave for your flight back to Delhi. The rest of the day is yours to pick up that bargain to take home, visit or revisit any of the sites that you are interested in including India Gate, Jama Masjid, ChandniChowk and Raj Ghat (the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi) or Rajpath. Enjoy your final night together as a group with a farewell dinner at one of our favourite Delhi restaurant’s.
DAY ELEVEN: SATURDAY 2 NOV 2019
After breakfast we say ‘see you soon’ to our new life long group of friends as we get transported to the airport to return back home after our one if a lifetime experience.
